“The Bachelor” Lorenzo Borghese joins Selling New York

(Newsday) – Former star of ABC’s “The Bachelor” Prince Lorenzo Borghese wants to be your neighbor.

Watch the prince, doggy spa mogul and animal advocate receive the real estate royal treatment as he searches Long Island for a place to call his castle on the season premiere at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 19 of HGTV’s “Selling New York.”

Borghese — who is still a bachelor, by the way — declined to specify his princely price range. “I said, ‘Price doesn’t matter. It’s all about walking in and feeling that it’s right,’” he says. Local luxury broker Shawn Elliott, who joins the Kleiers & Warburg crew for the episode, goes to extravagant lengths to give the prince that feeling while showing three North Shore estates from some wildly unconventional angles.

Borghese, who summered in Centre Island with his grandparents as a child, was looking for a weekend home with the same things most Long Islanders love about the place — proximity to Manhattan, where he has a midtown apartment, and to the water. He also wanted great views and lots of space for a future dog to run, he said.

The properties ranged from a $7 million listing in Centre Island to a Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes and Estates exclusive for $20 million Lloyd Harbor.

Borghese won’t spill his final decision, but says, “I loved them all. They all had incredible views. They were all very different.”

As for the unusual presentation of the properties, he says it was “incredible” and that Elliott was “the most entertaining broker I’ve ever dealt with.”
