(New York, NY) — As American as apple pie is Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular celebrating the Fourth of July on the Hudson River – truly a New York City tradition in the making. Hands down, the Empire State’s finest display of pyrotechnics, the show starts lighting up the city’s sky at 9:20 PM with about 70,000 pounds of explosions.

Let your patriotism shine while you watch NYC’s skyline illuminate at the top of the Empire State Building. Be sure to make a reservation online, as the observatory fills up quickly. Priced at $300, tickets include admission and light refreshments. For a taste of American History, head to the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, where the World War II aircraft carrier opens its doors for a 4th of July show viewing party. From 7 – 10 PM, the museum sets our country’s birthday celebration to music with a live DJ simulcast of the fireworks musical score. In a city with rooftops galore, Hudson Terrace is where you’ll find some of the best views of Macy’s fireworks with a barbecue, live DJ, and open bar. Located at 621 West 46th Street. General admission is $150 and private cabanas cost $250. The party goes from 6:30 – 10:30 PM.
Considered one of Manhattan’s hidden gems, the Press Lounge rooftop bar atop the Ink 48 Hotel is a chic chill spot to view the fireworks right along the Hudson. Featuring beach club-style seating, a low pool illuminated by nightlights, and a glass-walled modern architecturally designed interior, Press is known for its signature cocktails and organic cuisine served from the hotel’s restaurant, Print. The rooftop’s Fourth of July soiree costs $325 and runs from 6 – 10 PM. Located at 653 11th Avenue. www.thepresslounge.com
For a free Fourth of July celebration, you can go anywhere along 22nd to 55th Streets on the West Side Highway. From the hours of 4 – 10 PM, the northbound lanes at 12th Avenue will be closed to traffic for the Macy’s Fireworks Spectacular viewing. One caveat to this is that you will have to stand and should arrive early to get a good spot.
