“Million Dollar Listing New York” is back on Bravo with a premiere date of May 25 at 9p, ET/PT. The first episode will be supersized, and there’s a reason why: cast members and real estate moguls Ryan Serhant and Fredrick Eklund are busier than ever. Eklund sold more than a billion dollars’ worth of real estate last year, and he wants to challenge himself by making more money than ever before. Meanwhile Serhant’s real estate transactions are booming, and he’s trying to keep up with sales, although the recent opening of his new Brooklyn office means he’s burning the candle at both ends.
A NEW PLAYER IN TOWN
Of course, being a reality show, there’s tension between Eklund and Serhant, and this season a new cast member is here to add even more tension. The new player, who replaces Luis D. Ortiz and who departed from the show last season. is Steve Gold. Gold practically owns downtown Manhattan luxury properties because he’s made innumerable sales in the area. A confirmed bachelor, Gold, a successful former model, is looking to double his earnings this year in sales just like Eklund.
WORK VS LIFE
As many have pointed out, the juicy parts of MDLNY are neither the real estate transactions nor the tour of homes that will blow your mind away. Rather, it’s the personal lives of the moguls who keep us returning back. The three rivals have a lot on their plate, and we get to see them managing their personal life with aplomb or disaster while also selling luxury properties in the city. Eklund is attempting to get the baby that he knows will change his life for the better. Meanwhile Serhant and Emilia have domesticated, and are attempting to build a family in the chaotic and dynamic state in which they live.
BEHIND THE NEW CAST MEMBER
Gold, a wildly successful broker for luxury buildings at Town Residential, one of Manhattan’s most exclusive agencies, specializes in downtown Manhattan properties—from Greenwich Village to the West Village. It will be fun to see if Gold uses any of his contacts from the high-powered fashion industry (designers like Ralph Lauren and Armani, as well as A List celebs) to make a sale, or if he will continue to build or attract new clients on his own.
