Having a hard time renting an apartment in N.Y.C is soon to be a thing of the past. The rise of real estate apps and search engines are making the process simple for prospective tenants.

Here is a breakdown of the major components of renting an apartment in N.Y.C, and the apps that are making them easier.

1) The Search

Apps are now making the search process a piece of cake by modifying your search in accordance to specific desires. Such as location, price range, number of bedrooms, etc.

Some of the top rental search apps are:

2) Roommates

Finding a roommate can be a tedious process. However, nowadays we don’t need to rely on a newspaper ad, or a friendly referral to find the perfect match. I know what you’re thinking, there are apps for almost everything!

Here are some of the top roommate finding engines:

Craigslist

PadMapper

Roomi

3) The Deposit

Rhino, a new startup, is taking the stress out of paying a deposit by allowing tenants to pay a smaller deposit fee while guaranteeing landlords double the original price as a reimbursement if there are damages. For a fee of $10 to $25 a month the app is beginning to catch the interest of prospective tenants.

Last October, the Big Apple’s market was introduced to Jetty, a “renters insurance” app. This app removes the need for a hefty security deposit by charging a mere 17.5% one time fee, and insuring landlords the full deposit amount.

4) Furniture

Trying to find furniture for your new apartment can be stressful, and expensive. Getting the perfect piece at a reasonable price can make any new tenant ready to throw in the towel!

Here are the top apps to help you find exactly what you’re looking for:

LetGo

Craigslist

Who would have thought living in New York City could be this easy!
