(NEW YORK, NY) — Remember when StreetEasy began charging agents a daily fee for rental listings? Well, according to a blog post written by Matt Daimler, StreetEasy’s general manager, that fee is going up from $3 to $4.50 starting January 1, 2019.
The decision to start charging a fee was made last July in an attempt to diminish stale and fraudulent inventory. Daimler states in the post that since then, StreetEasy has seen a 60 percent drop in complaints about stale or fraudulent listings and a 40 percent increase in the number of messages sent to rental listings.
The fee came alongside the launch of the New York City Rental Network, a platform that allows agents to advertise rental listings across StreetEasy, Zillow, Trulia, and HotPads.
As of February 1, 2019, Naked Apartments will join the NYC Rental Network, thus resulting in an increased fee.
“I’m happy to announce that we’re taking all these learnings and applying them to our other NYC brand, Naked Apartments. On Feb. 1, 2019, Naked Apartments, NYC’s largest rentals-only platform, will join as the fifth NYC Rental Network brand and add hundreds of thousands more visits to the platform,” stated Daimler in the blog post.
