Top NYC broker Michael Graves closes his last chapter at Douglas Elliman and heads to Compass

(NEW YORK, NY) After a successful run, one of New York City’s top brokers Michael Graves has closed his last chapter at Douglas Elliman.

A Minnesota native, Michael’s journey as a specialist in new developments took off when he served as a the sales and marketing director for his family’s real estate development company, Graves Hospitality. 

Michael’s natural talent in sales landed him in New York City where he has closed dozens of record-breaking deals in some of the most sought-after buildings in Manhattan.

Michael is an expert in the positioning and marketing of luxury new development and resale and has racked up numerous awards and titles. Some of his career highlights include: Selling Bernie Madoff’s penthouse 133 east 64th street, selling the highest price per square foot ever sold in Brooklyn not once but twice, and closing the highest-priced single unit transaction of any agent in Elliman’s history. He has been ranked 7th nationwide by the REAL Trends’ The Thousand for average transaction price and 92nd nationwide for total sales volume. He was also named The Real Deal’s Rising Real Estate Star under 35.

Michael is both grateful and excited to continue as a specialist in new developments in one of the most active markets in the world—Manhattan. He has sold over $1 billion in real estate throughout his career and currently represents $329 million in active listings, of those $129 are under contract.

But there’s more than meets the eye with Michael who holds impressive expertise in the field of music. Along with being a leading force in the real estate industry, Michael is also a classically-trained composer. He obtained a master’s degree from NYU with highest honors in Composition & Theory and Scoring for Film. He is the recipient of the American Music Center’s CAP Award, NYU’s Honor Scholar Award, and The Founder’s Day Award. He’s had his music performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

As for his next move, Michael will continue his career at the Compass, where he will operate out of the company’s headquarters in Manhattan.
