(NEW YORK, NEW YORK)— Target’s has fallen behind ‘target’ at its new Columbus Circle location, pushing back the store’s anticipated fall opening date, according to West Side Rag.
A representative told the local magazine, “Target is excited to join the Upper West Side community, with plans to celebrate our Columbus Circle store grand opening in the coming months. We’re committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure every store is planned and completed in the best way possible for our guests and we’re currently finalizing all approvals and putting the finishing touches on the store.”
Commenters on the article wondered anxiously whether the store might be open for holiday shopping. Indeed, if the opening is delayed much longer, the business stands to miss out on a lucrative season, especially around tourist-magnet Columbus Circle area.
The store began hiring almost 160 employees in late August. It is unclear what is happening to those workers now, and if they will find employment for the holidays. One would hope that perhaps they are bolstering staff at other locations in the city.
